Update SARS eFiling Contact Details
How to think about updating SARS eFiling contact details, security contact channels and records before filing.
Last updated: 19 May 2026
Why contact details matter
Your SARS contact details affect OTP delivery, profile recovery, notices, verification requests and filing communication. Old details can delay filing or cause you to miss a SARS message.
Details to review
- Email address used for SARS communication.
- Cellphone number used for OTP and security checks.
- Physical and postal addresses where relevant.
- Banking and registered details where SARS asks for verification.
- Tax practitioner or representative access on the profile.
Before changing details
Use SARS official channels only. Keep your ID document, tax number, current contact details and proof of any representative authority ready. If you are locked out because the OTP channel is old, follow the SARS pre-login or support process rather than sharing credentials with an unauthorised helper.
After changing details
Log out and back in where appropriate, confirm that SARS notices and OTPs arrive through the expected channel, and keep a record of the date of change. If a filing deadline is close, check the return and correspondence again after the update.
When to get help
Get help where a profile is linked to a previous practitioner, a company representative has changed, identity checks fail, banking details are under verification, or a SARS notice has a response deadline.
